The Good News
GOSPEL 101
The most important message you will ever hear. The Gospel of Jesus Christ — explained plainly, from scripture.
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
The word 'Gospel' means Good News. And it is the best news in all of human history: that God, in His infinite love, sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die in our place — bearing the full punishment for every sin we have ever committed.
This is not religion. This is not a set of rules to follow. This is a free gift of eternal life, offered to every human being who will simply repent and believe.
Step by Step
THE PATH TO SALVATION
Acknowledge Your Sin
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. — Romans 3:23
Every person born into this world has sinned. Sin separates us from a holy God. The first step is honest acknowledgment of this truth.
Understand the Penalty
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 6:23
Sin carries a penalty: spiritual death and eternal separation from God. But God did not leave us there.
Believe in Christ's Sacrifice
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. — Romans 5:8
Jesus Christ — fully God and fully man — took our punishment upon Himself. He was crucified, died, and was buried.
Trust in the Resurrection
He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. — 1 Corinthians 15:4
Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead — defeating sin, death, and the grave forever. This is the cornerstone of our faith.
Repent and Believe
Repent and believe the good news! — Mark 1:15
Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God. Belief means trusting in Christ alone — not your own works — for salvation.
Receive Eternal Life
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. — John 3:16
The moment you repent and believe, you are justified before God — declared righteous by the blood of Jesus. You are born again into eternal life.
THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION
Salvation is not earned by good works, church attendance, or religious ritual. It is received by faith alone, in Christ alone, through grace alone.
If you have repented of your sins and placed your trust in Jesus Christ, you are saved. The Holy Spirit now lives within you as a seal and guarantee of your inheritance.
You can know — with absolute certainty — that you have eternal life. Not because of who you are, but because of who He is and what He has done.
A PRAYER OF SALVATION
Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again from the dead. I repent of my sins and I place my trust in You alone for my salvation. Come into my life, Lord Jesus. Be my Saviour and my Lord. Thank You for the free gift of eternal life. Amen.
